Gap between top vent and inner fairing on Rushmores

Hello all,

I noticed when replacing the windshield on my 2016 RG Special, that where the top vent meets the inner fairing, it does not sit flush on the two sides. It is flush in the center but gaps out on on the sides. The gap is quite noticeable around 1/8-1/4". I went to dealer that has several new road glides on the floor and saw that it appears to run all over the place. I saw 1 where it sat perfectly flush and several with varying degrees of gap including a CVO ultra that had wide gaps on the sides. It appears to me that is likely due to mounting/assembly of inner fairing. Has anyone tried adjusting inner fairing to alleviate the issue? Anyone else have this issue?

I have had the outer fairing off my 2016 a half a dozen times already. The 4 screws go through the windshield and the vent piece and then into the brass receptacle in the inner fairing. Once I have all 4 screws started I kind of push it all together closing that gap as I tighten the screws. The screw in by the speaker has some influence on that gap also? I've never got it "perfect" but I get it closer than most I have seen.

Hmmm...

I'd like to see a picture. I have a '16 RG Special as well, and just put a Klock Werks Fairing on it last week. It went on without a hitch, though there is sort of a black art to getting it all pretty and flush - which was definitely easy to do. If there's a gap, I can only suspect that the materials are just a little out of tolerance...not much...and could be adjusted back in.

Mine has more of a gap on the clutch side. It's been like that since brand new. I've Tried loosening up every fastener and nothing helps much. If you get the outer too close to the inner, then the holes don't line up for the windshield. I just deal with it. But if definitely messes with my OCD.

Here are two images of the gap with top pushed against inner fairing. I will try and see if I have any inner adjustment. If you push on the inside walls of the inner fairing down low where the engine guard attaches, it gives some curve to the top.

I would take it back, it's a new bike after all! That looks terrible, I wouldn't be happy either!!!

Thanks for posting the pics. Not where I was thinking.

I recommend removing the windshield, then loosen all the outer fairing bolts, then adjust fairing, then tighten the bolts gradually. I think it took me well over ten times each bolt. Did not want to tighten it unevenly. But turned out fine, no gaps, luck I guess. Also recommend the bike to be cool. I had my fairing off overnight in the garage. Temperature expansion would have been stable, a possible factor.

In those pictures you do not have the windshield or the 4 screws that hold the windshield and hold it all together installed?

Until you install the windshield and those 4 screws there is nothing to hold that all together?
