Why - just curious

So I've always checked my oil level after riding the bike and after the engine has been shut down for about 5 minutes. This morning I checked the oil before riding and it was two dots above the "Add Oil" line. 3 hours later after riding I checked the oil level per my usual routine and the oil level was UP about half way between FULL and ADD OIL. So my question is (for those who really understand these engines) Why does the oil level on the dip stick go up when it's warm? (I understand about thermal expansion of materials but it would explain that much of a difference.)

2019 Wicked Cherry RGU. And an even bigger smile than before.

I believe you pretty much answered your own question. Also liquid expansion. Molecules in liquid contact as they cool and expand as they warm.
