2009 CVO R Glide.....can the speedometer be adjusted. Fast by 3 to 4 MPH. Worry some.

why worry? if you always go by the speedometer, you'll always be doing 3 - 4 mph slower than you think you are. built in safety measure.

i've heard it said, but never seen it in print anywhere, that speedometers can be off by as much as 5%, but faster, never slower.

I always wonder how many people are denied warranty claims when a vehicle reaches the designated mileage vs. what was truly traveled. I have a 2016 RGU and adjusted my speedometer through my FP3. Not sure if that’s an option on earlier bikes

Not sure what the motivation is for adjusting it? As stated before you're not going quite as fast as the speedo indicates.

There are a number of factors that can affect the reported speed - tire inflation, ambient temp (which really just affects tire inflation), tire profile, etc.

Personally I always have a phone mounted, if I'm that concerned about actual speed, Waze displays it.

It can be adjusted with a Power Vision. I adjust my pulse count using a GPS to verify speed. Mine is dead nuts on at every speed I drive. Going off memory, it's probably 120 pulses more than what it was set from the factory.

I don't understand why anyone would not want a perfectly accurate speedometer? If you know its off, you will adjust your speeds to compensate. Probably the same type of person that needs to have their clocks set 15 minutes ahead to try and be on time.

no, not really. i just go by indicated speed. if the limit is 65, i'll do about 67. not because i'm compensating for the offset, but because you're generally not gonna be hassled over 2 or 3 mph. like i mentioned above, even though 'technically' i'm doing the speed limit or less, i'm still passing cars like they're standing still.

from 2017 on, no one is going to install a power vision just to correct their speedo, knowing that by doing so, they are killing they're powertrain warranty and/or esp.

No problem with you adjusting your speedo. Has I said before I am happy with my speedo flaw; I normally ride 8 mph over posted, passed various law enforcement on the road and never had a problem (so far), which, is ok with me.

GPS isn't 100% accurate as you state. I fly the Airbus A320 and stopped, with the parking brake on, my Nav Display will sometimes show 1 to 3 knots of groundspeed while the First Officers side will show something different (we have two independent GPS systems). GPS is also measuring your speed along a flat course and doesn't account for inclines or declines. Not a huge issue in most of the midwest but it's still a factor. You will be traveling faster than GPS indicates if you're not on a level roadway.
