Looking for advice on travel bag for Shark Week..

I'm trying to get my head around things i need to purchase for the trip and a bag is one....

I am considering grabbing one of the Kuryakyn GranTour bags. Its a little pricey...but...

I figure I was about to pull the trigger on a driver backrest and it looks like these can be used as a decent backrest so it may actually be cheaper than a smaller bag + HD back rest.

What do you guys all use? Keep in mind I have a custom and not tour pack (yet)....

thanks
D.

Put on the docking hdwr and get a rack maybe? your going to need it later for the tour pak anyway ya know? It takes about one hr to put on, then ck out Maxpeditions paks. they are not specifically for bikes but thier the best. Just a thought.

2011 FLTRU, vivid black, American Custom exhaust, Doherty Power Pacc air breather, fi2000 PowrPro fuel-injection tuner, HD Heritage Bars, Cee Baileys 15" Cee Glide windshield, FLTR Wind Deflector kit and some other little pretties too.

Saddlemen S3500

I have the largest saddleman S3500. Easy on and off of a backrest. My wife and i used it for four days no problem. Thats with "choices" , as she calls it. lol what i liked about it, is the sides open, so you dont have to unload to get stuff on the bottom. Here is the link. I highly recommend!

Seal Line

The GF as been kicking around the idea of getting a Seal Line bag. They come in various style and sizes are specially designed for water sports/boating/Camping but they have become popular of late with motorcyclists.
Prices range from 70$ to 140$ and your stuff stays DRY guaranteed.

The GF likes the Boundary Packs models and I like the Widemouth Duffles models.

Just thought I'd throw that idea out to you. Until I get my TP I might even get one of them for myself.

EDIT: Oh and its made in the good old US of A, Eh!

Bag for trip

For the past three years I have used the Dakota by TBag. This bag is originally deigned to go on top of a tour pack. It has lots of cargo room, has zip off bags on the ends that you can carry if you want to take stuff along with you when you leave the bike, a nice rain cover, and nice pockets on the rear end that provide storage for little things.

You can also still use the passenger backrest with this setup.

I also use a spider web bungee strap to hold things on top of the bag since it has all sorts of tie downs all over it. I use this to hold my jacket, helmet or even a wet towel that is drying while I ride.

I mounted it on a removable tour pack mount. I used a lightweight piece of board to give it support and a solid mounting point. I cut the board a bit smaller than the bag and painting it black so you can barely see it.

The reason I did this... if I want a tour pack I can buy one and mount it on the mount I already have and I will also have a bag that is designed to mount on the tour pack.

I look forward to seeing you all at Shark Week.

Staush, Does the T bag's pouch fit over all the sissy bar pads FOR THE ROAD GLIDE ? Also what size sissy bar are you running ? I was thinking about getting the short sissy bar but was concerned about it being to short for the T bag.

I can always get an other bag but I already have the T bag and think Cheap ! LOL
