True definition of true duals?

Please forgive the newbie question. I have so much to learn about the Harley world. So what exactly is required to fit the definition of true duals? Is see this description with respect to both headers and slip ons and just not exactly sure what it means.

Saw one definition that said true duals are just exhausts on both sides of the bike but that doesn't tell the whole story ... does it ?

If you look at a standard exhaust you have both exhausts going to a common header, 2 into 1, followed by a dual exhaust, 1 into 2. The true dual has the front to one exhaust and the back going to the other, it does not combine and then split the exhausts.
I am not a tuner or a person caught up in tuning so I am not sure why that matters, but it seems that it does to the dedicated tuners.

True Duals

Just finished installing Drago's True Dual Headpipes and Vance & Hine Hi Output slip pons on my bike. Installed a tune from Fuel Moto for the Power Vision. Just started it up, sounds loud (lol). Started thunder & lightening, pouring down rain. Ride tomorrow as long as the weather improves.:D

Some (majority perhaps?) of tour bike owners say that true duals give you a better "classic" sound, unfortunately at a sacrifice in power... 2-1 setups are the most efficient because one cylinder helps the other one out.

I would be interested to hear of the realworld difference from your ass in the saddle in perceived power.

I, myself, will one day get Trxee a set of Dragos trues, cuz they are just that badass. I really don't want loud tho, just throaty. I love the looks of the 4" Reinharts, but from what you all say - unless I could make them quieter, they won't work for me. Anybody have a suggestion for the mufflers? A little bark is ok, but would lean towards the quieter side. Baffles?

When I first put Rush Tru Duals on it seemed that the bike lost a little bottom end. Then a short time later I instaled Supertrapp Fatshot mufflers. After playing around with the amount of discs for a while the bike felt like it had more low end and more top end power. I dont think its enough difference in power to worry about unless your at the drags. Never saw any difference in MPG.
All of this has been verified by my seat of the pants dyno.
