CAT Concerns

Just a heads up RG friends. I just had my CAT gutted from my stock header pipe. My mechanic cut a window in the CAT and gutted it, re-welded the window he cut out, then added a Stage 1 intake and Vance and Hines mufflers along with remapping. The sound is better (but not like straight pipes) and it runs great... the biggest difference (and this is what I was really shooing for) was the Heat on the wife's right foot. I even put on running boards , thinking that would help with the heat. You could fry an egg on the floor boards, thats how hot they got. Now my wife is a happy camper, the heat has been reduced so much that she does not complain...remember men,, a happy wife is a happy life.... lol. As for voiding the warranty... I'm not even concerned with that one. The dealer even said that if there was to be a problem that could be because of the CAT not being there, that they would put on a stock header/with cat if Harley was to send out an inspector. The dealer told me Harley has NEVER sent an inspector out for any thing associated with motor problems.. they just fix them if they are under warranty. Harley doesn't want to make enemies with its customers, they want a life long marriage and there you have the DAWG's views on that.... happy motoring,,, DAWG from the Show me State...

I put a new head pipe on my 16 to help with the heat. I wasn't too worried about the warranty, but it is still a concern, but not as much with the 17's and up. I hope you are right about the warranty and your dealer is not giving you a line. I don't have as much confidence in the HD business model as you do.

I noticed a lot less heat just by cutting out the baffles.
I thought it was just me, But I thought I could feel a temperature difference.
The other thing is...........
Before I cut the baffles out, the bike would sit in the garage popping and pinging for 10-15mins after a good ride.
But Now... after the baffles where removed, The bike pings just a few mins after I park it. She cools right off no prob.
