Gutted Cat, A/Filter, & FM PV...

So, this is what I'm thinking of doing on my '18 M8. Gutting the cat, some high flow air cleaner or another that doesn't cost 500 bucks, and a Fuel Moto Power Vision with one of their canned tunes installed. I already have some MF slip on mufflers on the stock system.

I was originally sold on the FM ECU Flash but after talking with FM, I think they have me sold on the more versatile Power Vision. Have also heard that the stock gutted header flows pretty well.

Is this a good idea? Any holes in my plan or logic? Anyone run something similar?

I'd be interested in hearing how it turns out. I'm looking into the Arlen Ness air filter, Power Vision, and undecided on pipes. Considering D&D if I do full exhaust, or RCX if I only do slip-ons. I have an '18 RGU.

I've been going through bikes pretty quick lately, so not looking to dump a ton of cash into this one.

Can't see spending 5-6 hundred on a head pipe if the stock gutted will get me close to the same results.

Same with the tune... 4-5 hundred for dyno- but FM tells me just load the canned PV and leave about 5% on the table- and that's only if You have access to a skilled tuner You can trust.

+ The Power Vision allows You to change tunes down the road for free, and switch it to a different bike for $200...

If you buy FM Power Vision and their ac dc air cleaner together, you get a nice discount on both. I'm all FM with the Jackpot header, Hi Roller slip ons, ac dc air cleaner kit, and Power Vision. Very pleased with the outcome! BTW on an 18 RGS.....

Steve Cole (TTS)/Stonecold, did a M8 six cam comparison test using gutted stock header, seemed to work fine !
Also did a Filter comparison test, nothing in it as you would notice in normal riding

On my 17' I have the gutted head pipe. I run an S&S Stealth A/C without the factory cover. My tuner and slipons are different, I run the TAB Zombies and the FP3. Fairly low budget compared to some. Runs great, sounds great.
I was in the same boat with buying a headpipe. I may eventually, but for the foreseeable future, the de-catted pipe works excellent.

Do you have a link to any of this? Looking at some cams etc and doing a little research.

I just did this to my 2018 Road King, decatted, stock mufflers (opened up, look in side you can see how to do it), K&N drop in filter with stock box, although I did dremmal the baffle off...... Took my bike on a 700 mile ride, less heat, there wasn't much to begin with, 40-45 mpg, because of different wind affects.... all good very happy!!! CSM-H

I purchased a decatted stock head pipe with a built in chamber from American Custom. They use original HD headers and decatt them and put a small curved chamber to direct exhaust evenly to both mufflers. Its $300 and they refund you $100 when you send back your original headers as a core. Then i put on Cobra Neighbor haters and a SE AC and finished off with a custom mapped PV from Fuel Moto. The bike runs so much cooler and sounds awesome.

Hey bless0,

Quick question, did you decide to go your route with the head pipe for cost reasons or performance? I am leaning towards this route. To bad they only refund $75 now instead of $100 lol
