4.5 or 5.5 Slip ons?

Swapping out my exhaust system this year. Trying to decide between V&H Monster V, or a set of 4.5 Slip ons. Looking for a good exhaust note that won't have my head or my pounding after a day in the saddle (my wife has the same request). I am concerned about dragging the pipes in the curves. The price difference is about $200. Lowest price is not a priority. I change my mind about every hour on which one I am going to buy. Any thoughts?

What Year Bike and is the CAT still in?

I have the 4.5 HOs on my '17 M8 with the CAT still in and it is butter quiet at start up & idle but DEEP when on the beans - Not Loud at all - Can't see the 5.5s (with the CAT in) being louder, prob just deeper

Dunno man....

I have a 16, I was going to replace the header and go cat-less. No doubt that will increase the sound. I need to get rid of the cat, not going to deal with the heat anymore.

I've got a '16 FLTRUSE and added FullSac headers and Vance & Hines OS 450 Destroyers. Slightly louder/deeper at idle but when you roll that throttle and get into it, everyone will know. I've not had any issues on those longer trips, which I put 2,752 miles ride in 6 days in September '17.
