2-1-2 head pipe

I've nearly always run a 2 into 1 in the past but was considering trying a 2-1-2 exhaust this time around. Do all the aftermarket head pipes for the M8's have a different diameter pipe on each side or do some of them make a head pipe with the same size pipes where you could use any 15-16 or earlier mufflers with them?

You can get head pipes with the symmetrical outlets. I can't remember who makes them but I have come across more than one mainstream mfg.

S&S has a head pipe for the M8 that allows you to run 16 & down mufflers.

The good thing about the new design on the M8's is they actually work like a 2nto1 header with most of the exhaust going out of the right side and a small amount going out the left side. I did some testing on the Harley head pipe, took the stock mufflers and put the 2 1/4" Fulsac baffles in them. I bored the stock right muffler entrance to the baffle out to 2", almost 2 1/8" and the results were impressive. The Fulsac baffles have a nice tone as well. Somewhere between a Rhinehart and a D&D(without the raspy sound) and really deep pitch.
