V&H header cracked

Just happened this week. Bike is a 2016 that I bought new, added the V&H power duals head pipe with hi outputs shortly after buying.

Riding down the highway and I started to hear a rattling noise and the sound of an exhaust leak. Got it home and left it until a few days later when I had time to start poking around to see what was going on. Pulled off a couple of the heat shields and see that the pipe coming off the rear cylinder has cracked and completely separated from the ‘X’ portion of the header.

Sent V&H a message to see what my options are. I’ll update if a resolution is found but wanted to show the pics and see if anyone else has had this happen with their V&H header pipe? If so, what was outcome?

I cant tell from the pictures, but you didn't bottom out the pipe did you? V&H has always done me right every time I've had an issue, even when I didn't think they would.

Owned my share of V&Hs and they usually stand behind their products. Never had that happen to my own pipes but back in the 90s on a rental Electra Glide,the stock header pipe cracked on me while riding from Tombstone back to Phoenix

No bottom out and pipe has never scraped in a turn. I saw some people have had that happen.

I had that happen on my 12 a few years ago and V&H made good on it. Sent me a new head pipe after a few days of contacting them.

@NewYorkRhino
As long as the pipe wasn't hit this ^ is more then likely gonna be the out come. They sent me a replacement for an air filter the cracked at the bolt hole and I had the filter for about 9 years. V&H is a stand up company.

Good to hear all the positive outcomes. Hoping mine goes the same way, love the deep rumble of this set up.

Dam that sucks. Ive read before about VH pipes cracking. Possible to take a picture of the inside of the crack? Lots of undercut on the left side of the weld = too hot. A weld like that should never pass inspection

Had a set on my 2012 SG. The crack was in the “x” of the pipe somewhere.
I had bought them and had them installed at a dealer.
They contacted V&H and sent out a new set pretty quick.

Is it mounted properly? Seen it happen in the past when the pipe is hard mounted to the frame on rubber mounted engines.

If I have to explain ,you wouldn't under stand anyway.
