Talking Ever hear of LIQUI MOLY 10w-60 100% synthetic?

I was searching down oil options that will work from 30* to 105* preferably in a multiviscosity 60wt to help counteract our nice summer heat.
I am having a hard time justifying paying $15+ a quart for redline or amsoil including tax and shipping.

I came across a 10w-60, 100% synthetic, SL, CF, strong racing heritage and it's only $8.52 a quart at NAPA when you buy it 5 liters at a time!

I am going to try it for 5000 miles and see what blackstone says about it...

I think a 10w60 oil would be better than 20w for cold starts. I saw a Valvoline 10w60 at my local Walmart. I should pick it up and give it a try. In my region, Amsoil 20w50 is $20.00/litre/quart.

i like the redline 20w-60 myself.

and no, never heard of the liqui moly stuff.

I understand the concept of reality, but find it too confining for a way of life.

I was at my local Canadian Tire store. Noticed they had Lucas 10w50 synthetic. That would be a good Canadian or cooler climate option.

Talking Well it's working good so far...

Over on Htt we have a thread going on about this oil.

http://harleytechtalk.org/htt/index....c,75216.0.html

We currently have several guys trying it. My results in Memphis are favorable. It is quieter than straight 50w Moco oil in my bike. Runs at a lower temp and higher pressure.

At $8.52 a quart when bought in a 5 litre jug at NAPA it is a steal.

Where else can you get a 100% synthetic that Benz, BMW, Porsche, Audi all use and approve of at the factory and in rally/race cars and motorcycles... AND meets all engine oil specs for Harley's for a 5k oil interval.

We will see what blackstone says in a couple months.

interesting indeed .. I justify the price of Redline , under two points

1) oil is cheep

2) Blackstone has recommended this next interval to 8000 miles

Be sure to send them the extra $10 to get the TBN test done ..

My oil gets analyzed at every change

Here's some of the highlights compared to Mobile 1 VTwin..

Mobil 1 V-Twin / LIQUI MOLI
Density, g/ml @ 15.6C (ASTM D4052) 0.87 / 0.855
Flash Point, C (ASTM D93), 214 / 240
Pour Point,C (ASTM D97) -42 / -30
Kinematic Viscosity, cSt @ 40C (ASTM D445) 172.3 / 155
Kinematic Viscosity, cSt @ 100C (ASTM D445) 20.8 / 23.8
Viscosity Index 142 / 185

It has a higher flash point, greater Viscosity Index and better viscosity at 100.. I'm surprised that the pour numbers are lower.

I'll let you be the judge.. but would probably work better in the warm weather areas..

Smile Thanks for the great numbers!

I realy appreciate you finding the specs for the oil and comparing them to Mobil 1 VTwin 20
w-50.

I reposted you post on HTT where we have a similar thread on this oil.

I know of a total of 9 bikes trying this oil at the moment and all the results are favorable so far. In about another 4500 miles we will see what blackstone says and that will be a good indication of what we are dealing with.
