oil and warranty

So I've been reading allot about warranty on the 2017 M8 engine. Does using a SN motorcycle oil ( bel ray semi syn 20w50) oil void the warranty on these engines. In the owners manual it suggest using HDEO ( C? rating ) only and Harley Davidson oil only. You need to keep your receipts for your record to prove what you've used. So can your warranty be void using an SN rated motorcycle oil ( still JASO-MA2).

oil and warranty

The answer is no, as long as the oil meets HD specs. Per Magnusson-Moss Act, if a company requires you to use a specific product during the warranty period, the Company must provide it free of charge (and you know the MoCo would Never do that!!) Any oil that you use must meet the viscosity spec and any applicable service specifications.

I did my own 1K service. I saved my receipts, and took a pic of my odometer.

If you have a great dealer they won't ask. If you have a crappy dealer...

I brought my Kawasaki Voyager with 50,000 miles on it into the shop for loud valve lash adjusters. There was no question about where did I have it serviced, etc. My selling dealer closed and this was a dealer I had never dealt with before.

I did make sure to mention to them that if it isn't covered under the warranty, I will take the bike home and diagnose myself. Then they knew that it was either warranty work money, or no money.
