owners manual

I have a 2017 RG. It didn't come with a manual so the dealer gave me one from a 2014. Are all the oil capacities the same as mine on a 14? should I be using this manual?

They’re probably close, but the 17 has the M8 instead of the 103 TC in 14 so they’ll likely be different...

I think I would pickup a 2017 Owners and Service manual for the bike. Be great to have the correct info for that new bike.

Ya, a lot of things changed between 14 and 17, a correct service manual set would be a good investment if you plan to do your own work on it.

With that said, capacities can be found in the owners manual. And remember the listed amounts are a guide or close estimate. If it says 4 quarts to fill it, you might find that 3 1/2 is all that was needed.

In the meantime, you can download an owners manual by going to HD’s website, at the top right, click on the “OWNERS” tab. It’ll take you to another page, where you click on the Owner’s Manual” tab which is located under the title Maintain Your Bike. That takes you to HD’s service info website, where you can plug in your bike’s VIN, and from there download a copy of your bike’s owners manual.

https://www.harley-davidson.com

or just straight to the site and enter your VIN:

You need the correct one. 2017 has narrow primary , 2014 does not unless it was a Low. Among other differences.

You also have to be careful when you buy online. I bought one from Amazon and come to find out it was a copy of the owners manual. Has the big spiral binder holding it together. Its got all the info but for some reason Im still pissed that its a copy that someone just had a print shop copy and bind.

well i just posted info about a 2015 primary fill from my 2016 owner's manual and it was wrong.
the 2015 service manual showed a different volume.

anybody know why the volumes would be different?

in the mean time i would say stick with the correct year owner's/service manual.
