Water Pump Failure

Just had my 2016 RG CVO returned from the dealer after the pump failed, reading the posts here it seems apparent HD knew this was an issue and chose profit or consumer satisfaction. Be it $700 parts and labor or $50 ESP HD comes out a winner the loser is the person without ESP.

Mine failed this summer on my 15 CVO RGU with 23k miles, but I chalked it up to a bad hit from road debris. Who knows - but it was pricey!

Don't have a water pump on mine but will be adding esp through Jim in January. Bit of a gamble but will be covered for the next 7 years just in case.

With an M8 an ESP is a wise move. My Royal Star Venture came with a 5 year unlimited mileage warranty. Harley was still 1 year in 1999, I think.
IMO, corporate Harley just abuses it's customers. I boycotted them for at least a decade. I came back with the '09 frame change, etc. Fell in love with the Rushmore and bought it. Damn good motorcycle .
Now they're back to their old tricks. Not fixing the problems and charging astronomical prices. No thanks guys

Went ahead and bought the 7 year extended from Jim Palmer. They are running a deal to throw in wheel/tire warranty for 1$ until christmas.

Was going to wait a couple more months but figured might as well have the coverage now while I can save $349.

This thread goes over the failure and repair of the existing pump if you want to tackle it yourself.
