Question Garage Door Opener/ECM Upload

I lost my garage door opener after TTS tuning.
I uploaded the Fullsac map with TTS Mastertune after installing the Fullsac DX-pipe at my shop in town. Bike runs GREAT, but the garage door opener wouldn't work when I got home.

Is this the result of the ECM reprogramming, or unrelated? Anyone else seen this happen? It was working fine, but quit after the ECM upload. Would the reprogramming momentarily shut down the power to the garage door transmitter and cause it to drop the sync with the receiver? I have not yet tried to resync the transmitter/receiver, but I did have trouble getting it to sync when it was new, and had to take it to the dealer to get it working.

How is your garage door opener set up? Did you do the DIY garage door opener mod that is floating around?

09 Mirage Orange Pearl

No...although the converted push button opener installed with an intermittent switch is a great idea. Mine was factory installed on a CVO Road Glide Ultra. It was working fine until I did the ECM upload.

I actually have two garage door openers velcro'd to the inside of the flip down storage compartment doors...that works too, but the factory light switch actuator was nice.

Mine used to lose the code or something quite frequently and I would have to reset it it. Also I found that if I used the standard opener that came with the genie that the HD unit would interfere. They don't seem to work well together.

I have talked to both Fullsac and TTS, and neither of them have heard of a problem. I did have a problem with it when new, and the dealer somehow got it sync'd. I will try to sync the receiver/transmitter again and see if it works. If not, maybe I'll go back to the good ole' push button Genie opener remote.

It sounds as if they can be a bit temperamental at best.

I have heard many stories about the HD unit not working consistently if you still use your standard garage door opener. I no longer keep the car in the garage so I just quit using the standard one all together and went solely on the HD opener. Never had any issues that way. Don't know if that could be part of your issue but I seriously doubt the ECM is causing an issue with the opener.

OK....Total coincidence. The door closed in the morning when I left, and wouldn't open when I got home after the ECM reprogramming.

It turned out to be a toasted transistor/diode in the receiver in the garage. The LED on the receiver wasn't on, so I pulled it apart. Smelled like burnt electrical parts...and found the melted component on the board.

I guess it's off to HD to see if I can get the receiver without having to replace the transmitter under the front fairing.

Thanks for all the responses.

Garage Door Opener/ECM Upload

They do sell them separate. You shouldn't have an issue. Glad you found out what it was.

Check ebay. Sometimes when a CVO owner upgrades, he forgets to add the receiver in with the sale/trade. I saw one for sale in an H-D board on FB a few weeks back. Might save you a few bucks.
