Installing Screaming eagle air cleaner

i have a 2015 Road Glide Special, and want to install the Screaming Eagle Cone air cleaner and was told that i would need to have a software download. It was my understanding that since the bike has an electroniclly controled Fuel System that once the air cleaner is installed the engine would self adjust, can anybody shed any light on this subject. Do i need the download or not?

Garage
At a minimum do the download. Better yet, get a TTS and install one of their maps. Made a major improvement to the wife's bike. Holy cow did that bike run lean and hot.

Dont waste your money on a dealer download. Its a complete waste of money given that there are other tuning solutions that offer much more flexibility for roughly the same cost.

The first one that comes to mind is the $200 Fuel Moto Micro Tuner, it accepts Power Commander maps, which Fuel Moto will provide you with if you make further changes to your bike.

When I did that air cleaner on my 09, I was told the ECM could make that adjustment just fine, but if I change exhaust too, them it would need the stage I download.

I changed the air intake and swapped the slip-ons then got the stage I download and it's been all good. Of course this is California bike with NAZI CARB EPA requirements.

air cleaner

I was told by dealer and tuner that no way u can run air cleaner on these bikes without adding fuel. They are very lean from factory. If u add air u must add fuel.

Yes, and the bike has sensors that sense that and adjust.

Have you ever seen a report of a Harley blowing up because they installed a free flowing AC without a tuner?

From what i understand is the efi does not add fuel on its own and they are to lean. Im talkin about 15 rg. My 05 i rode it an hour to get tuned with straight pipes and ac installed. I wanted to do it with my new bike to and tuner said no way. Im new to all this crap to. Its like a science project just to put a few mods on. Lol
