Installed the FP3

So just got done doing a stage 1 upgrade from FM (who were great to deal with!) and got the FP3 hooked up yesterday. So far no issues after reading some of the threads on here.

Did run into a problem in the beginning but it turned out to be user error and made me want to throw my phone across the yard. Had everything hooked up, updated, and flashed in the garage with no problems so I wanted to take it out for a run to try it and get the exhaust heated up. Bluetooth was connected to the FP3 and then I plugged the phone into the right pocket to let it charge while I was out, and that was my mistake right there. Apparently, at least for me, if I plug the phone into the bike, it drops the bluetooth connection to the FP3, unplug it and restart the app, and the problem goes away.

So far the bike is running good with the new upgrades, need to get out today before the rain starts and get some back roads in!

Yep, if you plug your phone in, you lose BT to the FP3. So before you freak out, this is why. I went through the same thing and my thinking is...I put the FP3 into auto tune mode and I figure the app is collecting that data as I ride. Well, not wanting to drain the battery and possibly screw up the connection, I would plug it in and BOOM! Dropped connection. Drove me mad until I called them and figured out that when you put the FP3 into auto tune, the data is being collected by the FP3, not the phone. So you just simply scoot around until you are done, then reconnect via BLUETOOTH, and flash the updates to the bike.

So this is NORMAL bro, don't sweat it. I really wish their documentation was a bit more clear on this...but other than that, the FP3 has been awesome. A must have if you ask me. Make sure to check out some of the cool features like the pop reduction if you are getting decel pop, and the ability to increase the throttle roll responsiveness. Love this FP3!

Thanks, that's good to know about not needing the app running the entire time. Agree about the documentation piece needing to be more clear then what they give you. So far really liking the results I've gotten so far, going to start playing with some of those other features you mentioned.

bisonium,

Can you explain the pop reduction and how to do it with the FP3? I just put on Dragos header with CFR muffler and getting the decal popping a bit. Loaded up the FP3 with power dual header and no baffle mufflers as my starting point. I haven't done the autotune yet, going to start running it this afternoon.

Hey buddy, sorry for the late reply.

For the reduction in popping:

1) Go to View Edit Maps and select your Map
2) Go to Air and Fuel and select "Decel Pop"
3) Spin the dial and start with medium and adjust from there....

I played with it some this weekend, had some mild popping that has pretty much gone away after getting it dialed in. Also started turning up the throttle response on it to, it does make a nice difference.
