Do aftermarket systems void warranty?

I'm thinking of getting an aftermarket system for my 2010 FLTRX. Anyone know if these things void the factory warranty? Thx!

I'm looking at several, such as the Power Commander, Fuel Pack, and the TFI unit from Dobeck Performance, mentioned in the other thread.

Depends which dealership you take it too. If you have a good relationship with your dealer you bought the bike from it may not matter. If you have them install it they most likely will cover the repair ( Best to ask if you want to be sure )

If you break down and have a different dealership repair your bike and they decide that either your breakdown was caused by that part or they decide to inform the MOCO that you have installed aftermarket parts then you can expect to have your VIN # black listed

Harley has gotten really bad about voiding warranties on bike with aftermarket parts that were installed. I know, I have been black listed

If you have any problems with your dealer, ask them if they are aware of the Magnuson Moss warrenty law. What that means, in a nut shell, if you have a problem with your bike, the dealer and/or the MoCo has to prove that the part(s) you installed was the direct cause of your problem.

Thanks for all the helpful information gentlemen! I especially like the tip about the Magnuson Law. It's a real shame that we have to deal with such distractions.

I suspect my dealer will be difficult. As an example, my new bike wasn't supposed to come in until December. It came in early. I signed the paperwork and picked it up on 29 Oct. The following week I went into the dealership to see the offered $1000 in in-store credits to anyone who bought a bike from them between 1 Nov and 31 Dec! Of course, when I asked if they'd include me since THEY brought the bike in early, they said, "No, they couldn't do that." Well, next time I go in I'm going to tell them they just missed my special: my next $2000 in mods and service are going to the next dealer down the road!

That's a nice deal, never see those offers down south. Guess because we drive all year round.

You should have got the deal.

Thumbs up

Just to let you know. I've got a Arlen Ness Bigshot for my 2003 road glide (still gotta tune it). I just traded my 2000 road king for it and they let me have my pipes(V&H true duals) and clean air kit(Arlen Ness big sucker) and the bigshot fuel tuner off of the roadking. I love it .
