Tuner question

So just got done installing a performance machine fastair cleaner, Vance and Hines 2 into 1 pro pipe and a thundermax. Did everything in directions. When I took it to get gas (after I did everything with the thundermax) I notice a knocking noise coming from the front cylinder. Sounds like an exhaust leak, but I checked for leaks and everything is sealed. I'm not sure if the air cleaner just has a different sound or the exhaust just sounds different. Any help would be great thanks guys.

If it is an open style air cleaner, what you are hearing is the butterfly flapping. Throttle by wire is bad about this and even cable bikes will do it.

Ok thanks. I check the complete exhaust with a smoke test and put a rag over the exhaust and there are no leaks that I can find.

+^ what Smarty said. You will hear lots more from the top end with an open style air cleaner than the stock. Nice group of mods. You should be set for many rides of enjoyment.

Besides holding the air filter, the primary purpose of the stock air filter housing is noise reduction.
One some engines, the noise from the intake is nearly as loud as the exhaust.

Wow that crazy. But a much better feeling now that I'm not chasing my tail looking for a leak that's not there. Thanks for the info guys.

My 11 I just traded in was real loud. Crazy loud. Bike was not stock internally.
