FP3 Question

I have a 2015 RGS, with stock exhaust and will not be gutting the cat(I do not want a louder exhaust). I do have a stage 1 download and breather set up. I am looking to install a FP3 for the auto tune ease of install. After the FP3 install I am hoping to cool the exhaust a bit without hurting the gas mileage too much, and better performance.

I see on V&H web page there are two FP3s that can be used on my bike. One being the Cali version which I am sure it is limited in function and one for off road use (like many types of engine mods). For those that have the FP3, which version have you used and what suggestions might you have. Also, where would be the best place to purchase one.

Thanks

If you are NOT in Calif.... get the 49 state model...

I have the 49 state one. Which is the only one I'd get. I put it on my stock 16 a while before I did the cat and mufflers. Big difference. Also change the throttle response to standard plus.

With stock exhaust, the FP3 is going to do little to nothing for you. I'm pretty sure stock exhaust is not even a choice for a tune. You may get a little gain, but it won't do anything for the heat. You're not going to lower the exhaust temp a significant amount, and the cat is still going to be just as hot. If it's running good now, you might want to save the money.

There is a tune for a stock bike. And it does make a difference. It's not as much as when the cat is out. But it does help. And changing the throttle response to standard plus makes it a whole new bike. Mine was in my stock 16 for about a month. I'd do it all over again even if I wasn't changing the pipes.

another great thing about the FP3 is that you can pick one up at the local HD dealer. Even though it literally is a plug and play device, if your dealer installs it,(if they quote you over .25 hours for the install, RUN) it will not compromise your warranty either. As far as performance improvement, it literally will fine tune your performance and as others have said just the throttle response upgrade almost makes it worth it. I'm running Rush "Big Louies" 4" slip ons and a Kuryakyn Mach 2 intake with no internal mods and once I did a full weekend auto tune my gas mileage went up from 35-38 to 38-40 MPG, plus the bike "feels" better, and the response is night and day.

I put the 49 state on my '17 RGU. Absolutely love it.... I have tailgunner slip-ons now and looking to put dresser duel headpipes and get rid of the cat soon. After that will be the intake. I went ahead and took the plunge with the FP3 now so that I am able to make tune changes as I do other upgrades. I don't see a big heat difference but response and get up and go, big improvement. I would definitely recommend it.

I have a FP3 on my wife's 16, definitely didn't go with the Cali model. Had stock exhaust until last March. Fuel economy is great unless you get on it, just like anything else. Riding 80-85 we manage to easily go 200+ miles before starting to worry about gas. Of course at 60-70 you can go a bit further............

All, thanks for the replies I have one on order. Iím definitely going to adjust the throttle response to standard +. The nice thing about this is if I change my mind about gutting the exhaust, all I have to do is a retune.
