Need help with SEPST

Can someone please tell me how to retrieve the existing calibration that has been flashed to the ecm? I must not be nearly as smart as I thought, 'cause I don't see anywhere in the software help files how to do this. Thanks!

Not sure how exactly retrieve it(is what it is), but believe it can't be changed easly (like reseting a governor)and revert back to stock when pwrcdmr's an such are removed, in fact all the others that take programing (maps) such overide or trick the exsisting ecm.

Let me make this a little bit clearer. My bike currently has a custom calibration that was flashed to the ecm prior to me buying the bike. I have the sepst and I have the software. I do not have a copy of this file that was flashed. I now want to do some more tuning but I want to retrieve and save this current calibration in case I need to go back to it. I don't see any way to do this.

Well it is easier than you think. There are 2 ways Im not sure exactly what you want so here it is.

When you open up the program and open the tune that is currently on the bike in the left column where all the info is everything is in black text except for one line which is BLUE...Drag that line over to your viewing box. That is your original tune from HD.

If you are looking for how it was set up before the last flash or the one you have on now just open LAST SAVED for each item.

The ORIGINAL is the original info from the tune referred to in the BLUE.

I hope this makes sense.

PS:

Well I just re-read and you are asking about the SESPT, these are instructions for the SERT. I am sure the procedure is very similar, after all HD has not made changes to many parts of the bike for nearly 100 years so why would they invest in changing the tuning software?

I was just about to ask the same question. I have yet to hook up the VCI to the bike and the laptop. I've been reading the manual, going through the training DVD and now have brain-overload!

I've got the Pro Race Tuner, my dealer did a Smart Tune on it when I installed my Jackpot headers and K&N air cleaner/breather kit in order to reduce popping on deceleration and reduce knock. Since my dealer doesn't have a dyno, I think they did an acceptable job, but it needs more. I've got the feeling it is still running too lean at cruising rpm, so I want to address that with the Race Tuner software.

So, it seems that when I hook it all up to the bike, and power up the bike, I will see the current Map in Blue? Is that correct? If so, then I can save that file with a unique name to preserve it, and also, use it for Smart Tune data collection? Is that correct?

Thanks,

John

That is how it should work.

Does SEPST allow that?

I know the SERT (relabled TTS Mastertune) on my previous EFI bike, it was NOT possible to upload current map from the ECM. You had to have the map on your computer. When I had my bike tuned the tuner gave me a copy of the map on a thumb drive.

I would be really surprised if you can upload your current tune. Harley doesn't want you to be able to touch it. For that matter the guy who tuned my bike told me he would not warrant his work if I modified the tune...

Hey Tom. Sorry for the late reply. I haven't had the chance to try that yet but I may get to it tomorrow. Thanks for the info. I'll post as soon as I know something.
