Stage 1 w/SEPST

So finally got my Stage 1 completed with Street Cannons, SE AC and the Harley Street Tuner. Bike is running well and seems more responsive but will have to get it out on the road for a better test. Think I read somewhere it takes a couple tanks of gas for ECM to adjust. But so far like it.

Congrats on the upgrade!

Don't know where they are getting the info that it takes a couple of tanks for the ECM to adjust because the ECM adjust very little to the MAP that is loaded. What you can do, since you have the SE Tuner, is go run a recording session with the VCI attached and come back and download the data and then you can reload that MAP with the adjustments the program suggests. Then do it about 2 or 3 more times, each time loading the corrected MAP, and you should have a pretty solid MAP for your bike and riding style. I did my own stage one with the SE tuner and with the base MAP there were some spots that definitely needed touching up so I ran 3 separate recording sessions and it made a world of difference. Even in spots I didn't think were bad before. I just ran 2 after I installed the SE Power Cam and it works very well. Just download the software onto your laptop from the HD website and you're in business. You can watch a couple of YouTube videos on it and read the steps in the Help section of the program. Not that difficult once you do it a couple of times. Good Luck!

I actually think it was V & H who suggested running a couple of tankful with the FP3. Don’t know if the same applies to the SEPST. Yes I’m aware of the Smart Tune feature and will try it in the spring. Thanks!

When I installed Stage 1, I did one ride at various speeds until the HD tuner was full, went home, connected to the bike, and I was done. Repeated that when I went stage 2. no issues, rides great.

Does it matter that dealer downloaded the base calibration? When I download the recorded data back to the software will it automatically see the dealer downloaded configuration? Thanks.

The VCI actually stores the MAP that the dealer uploaded so yes it will run on that while you are recording the data during the Smart Tune session. Once you get back you download the data that it recorded to your computer and you can review the tables and upload the changes that it recommends (recommended) or you can make manual changes yourself if you want then upload the new and improved MAP. You will save all previous MAPs onto your computer so if you ever need to go back and reload a previous MAP you can. Plus the one that the dealer uploaded was just the one that’s in the software from HD so you will always be able to get that one straight from the SE Street Tuner program that you download.
