PCV VS Thundermax

Just got my bike back from putting racetech front springs and a reseal. The guy who did it was trying to talk me into ditching the thunder max and having him tune it with a PCV. I have a 110 kit I’m going to put In the bike. The guy has built a lot of engine. He was really into Bonneville racing and has been building engine for awhile I just don’t know if the power commander is worth the swap. What your guys input. Thanks for any help.

I'm a big fan of the Power Vision but I have also swapped cams in some friends bikes and they wanted to use the T-Max so I did. I had no trouble with the T-Max and I don't really know what he is hoping to accomplish with the PV that he can't do with the T-Max. I'm not a major engine builder nor have I been on a race circuit and do not have extensive dyno tuning time under my belt. I know some guys are just more comfortable with certain programs and can really fine tune with them and maybe that's the difference. If you are confident in his abilities and he is going to be your tuner then it could be worth it. You could always sell your T-Max as I'm sure there will be someone here on the forum to take it off your hands.

The guy is looking for a way into your wallet. When he is done on the dyno, you will have a little more power. At that moment. A month and a 1000 miles from now, you may have less. And for the 5 hp he might get you, that's a lot of money to be spending per horse.

My 110 makes 129/125 tuned with a Thundermax. Only thing I had to do by hand was backing out a little spark lead.

he's prolly more comfortable with that tuner.
choice is yours, but he should be able to adapt to what you have.

Thanks guys. He had me thinking for a second about swapping but I didn’t think it would be worth it really. As he was taking and stuff the guy seems to know a lot and what not but he said he could get me 100hp out of my 110 when done. I said that’s all. I will keep the thunder max and go on from there.

Is this a stock CVO 110" with the SE255 cams? If so getting a 100hp is not bad at all and getting 115tq maybe 118tq would be great. To get higher than that you will need to at least change cams and then on from there depending on what you are doing. The stock CVO 110" pistons sit a little on the deep side in the cylinders so shaving the top of the cylinders a bit and getting as close as you can to zero decking really wakes that engine up.

It’s a 103 that I’m building to 110.
