Greetings guys and gals,
I recently bought a brand new 2019 roadglide special. A lot of extras have been put on the bike, including Vance and Hines monster round, screaming eagle heavy breather, and then the plan was a SEPST. However, after fitting the pipes and breather, the dealer advised me the SEPST is not compatible with the 2019 touring bikes, has anyone heard of this? It’s listed in the parts catalogue... my issue is, if this is the case, there is currently no other tuner available that would not void the warranty.
Welcome! My suggestion is to give the dealer a swift kick in the balls for being stupid if this truly is what they said. If they truly did say this then my guess is either they think it will not tune a bike with something other than HD parts on it or they are looking at the O2 sensors and scratching their head as to why they are so small and the hole in the V&H pipe is so much bigger. Just my $.02.
A. Welcome
B. Your Dealer should no longer be YOUR dealer after this....but that's up to you
C. What Color? What did you ride before this? Where do you hang your hat and call it home?
D. See B
Welcome to the tank, and welcome to the world of shitty HD dealerships. My dealership is terrible, but that is probably because the next closest dealer is 2 hrs away, third closest is over 4 hrs away. If you live in a place with access to more than one dealership, then consider yourself lucky.
I'm in the same boat as you. I'm five miles from a dealer that I wish I liked better. Next closest is about an hour away. I find myself kissing their asses rather than the other way around.
I don’t know what your dealer is thinking but I’ve used SEPT on 19s and a couple Stage 4 kits on 20s. There are maps in the software. (Maybe not theirs if they haven’t done an update in a while)
Thanks for all the replies, and welcome messages, my apologies for the late response. The issue has still not been resolved. A little back ground, the bike is not in the US. I have tried 4 different dealers, and have had the same response from all the dealers, according to them, there is a SEPST for the bike, with a HD part number, however, it has not been made available to dealers outside the US. I have no way of checking how accurate this information is, the fact that the same response comes from 4 different independent dealers makes me wonder... in conversation with one of the dealers, I suggested I buy the SEPST when next I am in the US, and have them fit it on my return, however his response was the tuner would not work on bikes supplied outside the US.
I guess I missed the part that you were either not in the US or that the bike was not going to be? I am not sure how this works with the bike that does not need to be US EPA compliant. Maybe some of our Candian friends can jump in? If you don't need an EPA compliant tuner you have many great options. What are your local dealers recommending and where will the bike be ridden/country?
If I had the opportunity to legally ditch the black tuner for a powerful vision, TTS or thunder max I would in a heartbeat.
I didn't see anywhere that states that it will not work on vehicles sold outside of the US. I would call Harley directly and get an answer from them as to why it specifically cannot be used. Could all be emissions related. Good luck!
