Lightbulb RPM @max fuel economy for a stock 96ci

What seems to be the best rule-of-thumb for an RPM to max fuel economy on a stock 96 ci RG. I know in 4 wheelers for a particular size engine there is an accepted ratio. Is there one for us ?????

once upon a time , long long ago I read somewhere that maximum sustained "cruising" speed was 60% of redline rpm .. So what we redline at 52 or 5400 rpm
thats 3100-3200 rpm , pretty good clip ..

That said , my stock 08 RG last August did 50 mpg on a 2300 mile road trip with cruise set at 65 ( by gps , not speedo ) , and there was about 400 miles of backroad and mountain riding in there as well ...

And 65 with a six is what around 2500 rpm or so ..

Question

I've been checking gas mileage and my results are:

Just me @ 2500 rpm sustained 46 (ish)

Me and the other half @ 2500 rpm sustained 44-45 mpg.

With a tour pack and at least a full tank ride , measured over several rides either way.

I put a K&N air cleaner at the same time I started taking stats.

That's my story and can I do better ???????

mid 40's nothin' to sneeze at for shure ..

only things may help inch up is stuff ewe already know anyways

use the cruise and smooth throttle application and smooth steady braking ..

I get 40 running back and forth to werk , 40 miles round trip , no interstate ..

mid upper 40's with cruise running 65-80 mph ..

I'm happy as long as I am over 40 mpg

I have to agree with the above. Around 2500 RPM = 50 mpg. When I run around 2000 rpm it drops to 42 mpg and the same for around 3000 rpm.

Be careful, STUPID doesn’t care what direction it comes at you from!!!
