TV-3 versus PC-V with Auto Tune
OK, so I thought I should share some info. with all of you regarding the Terry Components TV3 and the Power Command V with Auto Tune installed on my 2010 FLTRX. Please keep in mind that these are my experiences only, with input from my local dealer and may not reflect that of everyone else.
Last year when I purchased my 2010 Road Glide, one of my many accessory purchases to go along with the SE 103" kit, was the TV3. My first impressions of this piece were good. The bike ran decent, though maybe a little sluggish off the line, which I attributed to me getting used to the throttle by wire. After a month or so, I started to get some other weird throttle problems, all of which I promptly blamed on the throttle by wire (Like everybody else wasn't doing the same). The worst of which was that while driving down the road at varying speeds, I would completely loose throttle control. The bike would stay running, but the throttle was simply dead. Over the next few months, this happened like 30 plus times and became quite dangerous while riding in a pack.
I took the bike to my local dealer and they went through it on three separate occasions and the only thing they were ever able to find were some lightly corroded wires, which they promptly replaced. At one point, they even tried replacing the TV3 with a new unit, hoping that this one was simply defective, but the problems continued. This winter they had the bike completely tore down and again tried to find the problem. Eventually, due to the many problems they had experienced with this unit at their shop and on several different bikes, they replaced the TV3 with a new PCV with auto tune at no cost to me (I love my dealer).
With the new PCV installed, I have not experienced any of the problems I had before. It's been less than 1000 miles, but the bike is no longer sluggish off the line, I have yet to loose throttle control and the seat of the pants feeling is that it just plain has more power...allot more. 1K miles probably isn't a very complete test, but I wanted to share this info., incase someone was experiencing the same problems or trying to decide between the two systems.
