Potential issues with TallBoy seat

I am contemplating buying a new Ultra, and will want a bit more legroom than the stock seat offers. The tallboy seat sits you back 2", which should be fine.

1. Since I don't need extra distance to the bars, I'll want to change bars for ones that pull back 2-3" more than stock. Will this require new cables?

2. Should moving back 2" be enough to create any (more) air flow issues? IOW, am I likely to get buffeting that I wouldn't get using the stock seat?

many thanks, and hope to be joining you RG riders soon!

Hey Jim. If you get the chance sit on someones bike that has the tall boy seat. I have one and my bars are perfect where they are. I didn't change them. I do have long arms though. Hope that helps.

Your questions do not have one size fits all answers. It will all depend on you. That being said, I would change the seat first (the tallboy is nice for a "factory" seat). Then, change the windshield, wings, etc. for any additional wind.
As for the bars, the heritage bars will work fine without any cable worries. I think anything longer than those would probably require at least some of the wiring/cables to be extended. Good luck getting fit.
On at bike you already paid 20K for, it is well worth the extra 1K or so to get everything about your riding position dialed in. It will pay off every mile you ride for as long as you own the bike.

Thanks for the help, guys.
Just came back from talking to the dealer.
I still haven't ridden one.
Will rent one in the next week or two.

Rental is good to show what stock feels like. It takes time to get the bike set up and comfortable. Great deals on used bikes that have some of Your mods done. How tall and your inseam determines what windshield works best. Look for somebody about your size and sit on his bike. Heritage bars feel better to me because of the wrist angle and height. Have fun!

If dealer has the seat in stock have them put it on the bike and check it out, make sure however if you get one that they give you the new seat with the cut out, just in case you ever want to put on a back rest. When I got my seat they didn't have the slit.
