Mean City Seat Heat?

Does anyone have a testimonial about the switched seat heat that Mean City Cycles installs? It appears to be a very good accessory for the money, and I am wondering if anyone has any experience with one?

I just got my stock seat back from them which I had narrowed & lowered for the driver, and widened w/memory foam for my wife. Living in the great Northeast I opted for the standard seat heaters. I'd be glad to tell you what I think once I figure out how the hell to hook it up. Comes with a fuse "jumper" but can't get it to fit in the box and still have the cover close? Waiting for their tech Kevin to call me tomorrow.

My stock seat is on the schedule for next week. Anxious to see what Mean City can do, certainly some great reports. I asked them to not put the switch on the seat because I want to have a switch on my dash panel for it. I bought the Auxiliary Switch Kit which adds 2 switches to the right faring panel. The harness that comes with this kit includes a female connector under the seat connected to a relay, specifically to take care of an accessory like a heated seat. Harley heated seats apparently come with the male connector already attached, and I have asked my dealer to get me that connector which I plan to hook up to the wires on me seat when it gets here.

Honestly the instructions they provide, which are from the heater vendor (Check Corp.) are anemic. I was thinking of trying to hook into the available hookups HD gives but they are 4 wires and the heaters are only 2. I'm pretty handy but wasn't 100% certain I could make it work and not cause some sort of issue. Made a plan with Kevin @ MeanCity which should do the trick. I'll keep you posted.

i bought a used mean city heated seat on here, it didn't come with the plug for the bike, only the one on the seat. called mean city kevin told me to call check corp, stephenie was very nice had me send pics of connector on the seat which i did, said the tech would call me back 3 days later i called her back, she put the tech on the line he looked at the pics and said he would get back to me the next day has been 2 weeks and no return call, will try and call them again. also when the tech talked to me he tried to sell me the seat heater kit, and i kept tellin him i only needed the connector, sounded like he lost interest.

Figured it out. The way they tell you to do it with their connectors would have you jumping into your fuse box. Besides for a serious lack of space and the inability to fit two within it, you end up with constant power. Not ideal considering the risk for draining your battery. Anyhow, did some research and figured out how to splice up a Deutsch plug (Google it). Only thing I had to do was put an inline fuse on the red line. Now my power runs off the ignition switch. 3 days of anxiety but I got there. Still cheaper than having to pay the dealer for the service.

Got my seat back from Mean City last Thursday, and just this morning was able to get out into the shop and wire up the new seat heater. I took the power/ground from the seat and ran them into the male side of a Harley Deutsch connector that mated with the female side that came with the auxiliary switch kit, so it is powered by one of the new switches on the panel. As regards the heater, nice and toasty, just right. Single power level, not too hot, just warm enough to feel good. As regards the seat, I can only say WOW, they really nailed it for a guy 57. Im super flat footed now, much more feel of control while walking the bike around. They did a first class job.
