Bluetooth with GPS & Phone

May get a Bluetooth GPS for an upcoming trip. If the GPS is Bluetooth and my IPhone and helmet are bluetooth, how do I Sync them so Nav directions will interrupt music coming from my phone?

should sync no issues I believe

I have the Harley Zumo RoadTech 550 and it synchs with the phone and headset no problems ..

I do have the RGU and the headset is Harley or Nolan depending on the helmet ..

Only thing I had to do with the Bluetooth and the 550 is install the HD BOMM unit so I could transmit on the cell phone ..

I do not want to add anything, or buy a $700-800 unit. I may but am looking on using a $200-300 unit.

If you are going with Garmin GPS, just be aware that the bluetooth protocol for the less expensive Nuvi models is different than the motorcycle type Zumo models.

If your not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room...

without getting too complicated the two units speak different languages , in other words , they can't communicate with one another

You can probably just use your iphone as your gps. Sync your helmet to your phone. I use my android phone with navigation through my speakers via bluetooth. My phone already has navigation and i bought a bluetooth devise for about $40. I couldnt justify buying a GPS unit for a few hundred bucks that id use once or twice a year. Also if you want to plot your course as you go you can use google my tracks app for free. Just sayin

There are different 'dialects' in the same 'language' of Bluetooth.
Generally, you can pair your Zumo to your headset in your helmet. It has A2DP protocol. It will also pair with certain cell phones.
Bluetooth compatibility for Zumo and Nuvi GPS units is scattered and here is a link to what Garmin says about this:

Alright, I think I am going to wait for PC Pain to get into work and get a 660. To much stuff I would have to learn in order to hook up nuvi and iPhone and headset
Ordered the Zumo 660 from Jon. $100 less thenanywhere i looked. $125 more then the nuvi i was considering. What the heck i have 4 planned multi day/week trips aready set for this yr.

Use the Maps app on your iPhone. Use mine all the time and have not got lost.
