Scenic Route Planing

Does anyone make a GPS that has pre programed scenic routes. The maps I get from AAA have the green dots on the scenic roads so I'm wondering if Garmin or anyone has a system where instead of fastest you choose most scenic?

The Navigon App I use on the Iphone has some cool features. In the settings you can choose the type of vehicle to travel in and it will give different routes depending on what you choose. It gives you a choice between car, motorcycle, truck, bicycle and pedestrian modes.

It will also allow you to choose between the type of route you want. Optimum, fast, short and scenic. From there you can choose to allow, avoid or forbid highways, toll roads, ferries, residential streets, etc. It will also alert you to dirt roads along the route.

All in all its a pretty useful tool for travel and I have found it is more accurate than the other GPS units I've tried. It might be worth looking into.

What the App?
I heard HD came out with an App but I can't find it anywhere. I have an IPhone so I'm wondering if its an Android App only?

I use Sygic on my iPhone for navigation because it will let me download maps so I don't have to rely on network access. It also saves a lot of space on the iPhone because I can just download the map for the specific state that I need instead of the entire continental US. In addition, and what I like the most, is that it will let you drag and drop the route so I can tell it exactly the route I want to take instead of just A to B. Lastly, it uses TomTom's maps, which are updated frequently.

This is not a GPS link however, I have used this one for ideas when I am traveling to unfamiliar areas.

Have you heard of Mad Maps? They have GPS routes that you can purchase for various parts of the country. They are loops of between 150 - 300 miles that have been ridden and planed by people from the area and are very good. I bought the New England States paper map and the GPS (Garmin) downloads and traveled VT, NH & Maine using their routes. They are very good, except!!!! You HAVE to start at the starting point of the route or it continues to make you turn around. Maybe they fixed that glitch, but, it's worth looking into anyway, check out their website. https://www.madmaps.com/
