Question about install with Boom Navigation Interface Module

I'm getting ready to install my Road Tech Garmin 665 with the Boom Navigation Interface Module. I already have installed the Boom iPod Interface Module.

I noticed that both wiring kits have common wiring that integrates a source "module" or electronic component (the iPod or Navigation module) with the 35 PIN head unit.

The iPod module and wiring that goes to the iPod is separate from the common wiring. Likewise, the Navigation Module, and the wiring to the Road Tech is also separate from the common wiring.

The Navigation Module can plug into the unused 6 Pin socket from the iPod kit's common wires. Am I correct in assuming that I don't need to use the common wires from the Navigation Integration Module kit for my Garmin 665 install?

FWIW, the answer is yes, you don't need both sets of wires that are common between the iPod and Navigation Interface Module kits. So I have an extra set.

I completed the install today, and the Garmin integrates with everything great. Used the Iron Aces mount. Tapped into cigarette lighter for power. Installed the Navigation unit on the provided bracket, though I had to remove my JM Audio amp first to gain access to it. Its tight in there, but it all fits. I mounted the XM antenna on top of the head unit. Will see how the reception is after I update my XM Radio subscription.

Sorry. Just seeing this. Looks like you got it alright. I love the integration module.

Its hard to understand because the contents of the iPod and Navigation interface kits don't make sense. The wires that are common to both kits only support 2 modules.

What would make sense would be to sell the core wires as "Interface kit for HK Super Duper Radio". Then wiring for each source could be sold as "HK Interface Module for DeviceName" that would simply plug into the Interface kit, and provide a forward chaining expansion slot for the next interface module.

Oh well, I'm up and running anyway.

You stumbled onto the hair puller of the 21st century. I have the same setup that you do, and it almost made me crazy trying to figure out the wiring. The instructions must be written by someone who has never seen the NIM and iPod interface at the same time. Technical writers don't have a grasp on reality. I actually stopped reading the directions and went by the schematics. That at least made sense.
