Garmin 665

U will need the hd navigation interface module. Also just an FYI if u want the gps instruction to override the other bands u need to purchase the roadtech 665 (hd version of the zumo garmin 665) exactly the same but the non hd will not override the other bands...

I plug my 665 into the RCA jack on the radio and run off Aux mode. You can't hear direction if listening to AM/FM/CD but I use the XM raido and MP3 player that's built into the 665.

I stopped using paper maps last year. The problem was I went down on a road trip and my GPS was totaled. The bike was rideable but I never printed out the directions. We basically knew the route so we bought a few maps at gas stations and finished the trip. 3 states and 3200 miles later we made it home safe. Truthfully, I have more fun when we use a real map 'cause we plan everything on the fly. Gonna do Sturgis next year and I'll probably use a combination of paper maps and GPS. The GPS takes all the thinking out of things and a paper map helps make it more of an adventure.

I have the 665..XM requires a Subscription as well as Weather. I tried it the first year.. plugged mine in the Stereo. The Supplied Puck Attenna is Terrible. I run XM through my phone with a jack. Works better and still allows to sign on to a computer without another Subcription as I already have it in my Truck as well...it get's ludicrous after a while. Just food for thought..Remember..for outstanding Satellite performance You need to mount the puck on your head...lol...but seriously...I could never find a suitable...accessible mounting spot that wasn't damn ugly..in the fairing..nope...on tank..nope...on bag...nope..inside side covers...nope...tried them all...reception spotty at best..could be all the cruising I do in NH...Got Me...

It comes with the Road Tech (Harley Version). I never use the radio, but I have it plugged in to the AUX jack (moved to the rear) in case I really want to. I also have a Bluetooth Headset in the helmet, and I use that exclusively. I do get the directions over the music there. I also have a 16gig SD card in the Garmin filled with all of my MP3 files, so between the XM and the MP3's, I have more music than I can ever listen to.

Harley makes a perfect mount, P/N 7000016, that mounts under the fairing up next to the radio. I have one, and the only reception issues I have ever had have been down in canyons where the signal is shadowed. I tried searching for that P/N but could not come up with it. I have to wonder if it is still available. It is designed specifically for the 665 XM Antenna so that it just screws to the plate (two screws included), then the plate mounts next to the radio. Uses one of the radio mounting bolts to mount the plate.

Several other folks here have it as well, and I have never heard of any reception issues. I even have the Metal Windshield Trim and it does not interfere.
