8 inch tablet over '15 Infotainment

I just returned from a 1900 mile trip to the UP of Michigan. I have learned that the Harley GPS is plain dumb, as the routing it offered didn't make sense. Several times I had to pull off to the side of the road and fire up Google Maps to check the routing.

On the way back through Chicago, I needed to track pop-up thunderstorms so again I had to pull off to the side of the road to open Wundermap.

This got me thinking that a small cell enalbled tablet (iPad Mini or Samsung 8") would fit nicely over the Boom Box area.

This means:
  • Google real-time traffic/Google maps offline
  • Google voice control
  • Weather radar
  • Spotify-offline/Tidal offline

Has anyone done this?

I agree. I rode a 10k ride and I stop using the Stock GPS. It gave me wrong and longer routes several times. I used my phone Google maps for the rest of my trip.

I wonder if the Moco is aware or even cares how much of a disappointment the navigation and infotainment system is. I'd love to fill out a survey regarding it, if for nothing more than to vent a bit and pretend that someone might actually read it.

We just returned from our 4700mi trek to Shark Week VI in Canmore Alberta. Went from eastern Iowa all the way there and back using routes done exclusively on Ride Planner and plugged into the Infotainment GPS.

The system screwed up exactly twice, once it was trying to take me straight to Canmore a day early rather than stopping in Great Falls for the night first, and once when
it dropped us in the middle of North Platte NE, nowhere near a Super 8 motel.

Both errors were caused by the same thing, the operator.
I swapped files when I was renaming the routes for Canmore and Great Falls, and I failed to enter an address for the motel, so it took us directly to the center of North Platte. A couple minutes searching for the Super 8 and we were in route directly there, arrived right at the front door.

Good luck with anything cell phone related in the middle of butthole Wyoming or Montana, a hair brush will be more helpful.

I don't need radar, I'm gonna get wet sooner or later either way.

Indeed. A hair brush wouldn't screw you up as much tho.

I suffered from the same fate and came to the exact same conclusion. I think a tablet upgrade (built in) would make great sense. I have considered running an iPad mini with a dash mount. Need to play around more with it.

I will at least make you look more presentable when you go asking for directions in the rain.
