Side by side comparison of shields

Just thought I would share this article about windshields for the 15 RG.
I know we all spend countless bucks trying to find the right height.

Thanks for posting this. Very interesting. I thought I had made up my mind on a Sport Flare, Windvest or a Freedom is likely what I'll end up with.

Side by side comparison of shields

Interesting reading, I have already ordered the 12" WindVest in gun smoke. Looks like I have made a good choice, I am 5' 11' and looking forward to the arrival of the shield.

Be glad too, it is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday. Give me a couple days to check it out after install.

I got my Wind Vest delivered yesterday and was able to do a 60 mile test loop. I had the stock 8" shield from the factory.

The first 30 miles was with the upper and lower vents open at a speed of 70 mph (I did not see a reason to do a slow speed test). As noted in the above listed shootout info, I found about the same results as the taller rider did, I am 5'11". I feel I could hear the radio better than they had listed at highway speeds.

On the 30 mile trip back, all remained the same, except the lower vents were closed. I felt with the lower vents closed it was not as windy on my arms. Closing the top vent on the way back did not change the wind on my helmet very much, maybe just a bit more impact, maybe. That was about the only dif between the two.

I did move a hand around my helmet to see how the wind was and it felt like it was just going above the helmet. If I sat with my back as straight as I could, the wind did hit the top of my helmet, but not bad and I do not ride that way. At my normal riding position, I was able to look over the windshield about 2" above, which I believe they say you should.

I am pretty happy with the Wind Vest so far and time will give me a better idea how well I like it.

Hummmm, something fishy. I guess it's the old, still the best, but can't stand the look thing. I actually like the 2015 Madstad look, and it's adjustable, so you dial it in, how genius is that.

15, thanks for the feedback. I'm 6' but have a seat that sets back 1.5" and is lower than stock. Going to try a 10".
