Dialing in the madstad

Ok, I got my stad, 13.5" dark gray, and I really like it. I can feel the air going over my head if I hold my hand up. But I am still getting a lot of air turbulence coming up from under and around the fairing. I know that is where it is, as I move my hands around to tell where it is coming from.

So what do I do? Is it time for a GADS purchase or should I look for some lowers? What do you think?

Lowers are the very best thing you can do for that but it is also the most expensive. I feel it is well worth it especially in the colder months. If those are not in your budget I personally prefer the Sanchos Wings over the Gads. They work just as well and they look better on the bike. You're not going to get the same result as lowers but it will help.

Also... As you are playing with the adjustment of the MS; there are some holes to where you can move the shield out farther away from the base plate. I moved mine out to the center adjustment hole and the result was even smoother airflow. Just FYI.

Not sure what year you have, but if you havent tried these, you should, given your problem description:

You can get a set of aftermarket vented lowers painted in black for around $100 .
When i ride with my Lowers on with the Madstad, Sancho wings, HD wind baffles and dog dish , I can just about light a cigar with a match riding down the road.

2010 FLTRX , Stage 1, 13" Madstad, Mono tubes, SuperShox, Heritage style bars. Alpine CDE-HD149BT,Soundstream Picasso Nano Series PN4.520 , 5X7 and 6.5 Infinity Kappa speakers
If I have to explain ,you wouldn't under stand anyway.

i have both Sancho, GADS and the $30 HD front engine guard wind deflector.
They redirected the wind from coming up from under the fairing than hitting the gas tank riding up into the rider's space.
