vents

Hi guys I picked up my rgs last week and have issues with the wind, after reading the reviews i got a kw14 flare windshield, its better than the stock but still bouncing eyeglasses. The tech at harley said to open the vents if i get a shimmy otherwise keep them closed. I though the vents were there to prevent the bouncing i tried them opened but dont know if im doin it right does any one have similar issues?

Many questions to ask you.

How tall are you?
Inseam so we know if you have a tall or short torso?
Stock seat?

I've found that opening just the top vent really helps with the buffeting. No changes with the side vents open, Just more air.

Who the hell is your Tech??? Harley spends multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars in wind tunnel time and design only to have a "Tech" tell customers to basically throw all that away? Come on.....(him not you) Really???
Open all the vents if you're anywhere near average size (5'9") and you've already found the big secret to getting smooth air in the larger shield.

While I'm not disagreeing with Ohiobellboy ( one of the few on here who's opinions I respect ) I found no significant change when I closed my vents as he suggested...just sayin'. But, with all of them closed.....it was ridiculous....it must have been a communications issue with that tech! Open those suckers!!!

Can you post some pics of you sitting/riding with the kw shield? I am 5'11", with a 32 inseam, and was wondering how high the shield comes up to the eyes.

Are you running with the stock seat or an aftermarket one?

I just got a WindVest 12". I am a women 5'8". I was having terrible buffeting with the stock windshield. No problems with the new one. Top vent open bottoms closed.

I have a 15 CVO RG, just put on the 15"KW Pro I have no real difference in air with vents open or closed at least as far as face buffeting, Air tends to hit me mid chest 6'2" 34" inseam. I did add a deflector between the forks that also made a major difference in updraft from below the faring.
