Rushmore RGU windshield fit

I did some searching here but couldn't find anything on this issue.......... 16 RGU...where the windshield fits along the bottom to the fairing....has a gap...maybe 1/4" from the bottom edge of the shield to the stub? on the weatherstrip. It was the most annoying thing(to me) when I first bought it new…fit just didn't look good.....occasionally get a bug in between. Replaced the factory shield with a Klock touring flare but fit the same. I talked to the dealer...stopped at Klock….looked at some others..."just the way they fit". Kinda got over it....it was under warranty and I didn't wanna screw with it while it was covered. Enjoyed riding it too much(45K now in a little over 3 years) to make a big deal out of it. Now that it's out of warranty....decided to take it apart myself for the first time to run my SXM antenna wire internally and fix the side vent mechanism(that's another story....;-)…..worked on 2x at the dealer and still ain't right) Anyways....I'm looking at doing something with the gap at the bottom of the windshield to clean it up and wondering if anyone else has done anything on this....before I decide exactly how I'm gonna proceed......

Rushmore RGU windshield fit

My freedom shield fits flush; it came with instructions to thread all retainers in and tilt toward front of bike and fully tighten middle retainers (while tilting) and then tighten outside retainers.

Can't see from the pix if the Harley trim covers the gap...I don't like the way it looks now but it ain't bad enuf for me to drop a C note to the Moco to cover it up..seems I tried to tip it forward when I first changed the ws....been too long ago....and will try tipping forward again when I start to reassemble it..can't tell from the pix if the X-trim would cover up the gap or create a different gap if it is pushed on the lower edge....but he says he'd take it back and refund my $$ if I wasn't happy with it....probably worth a try for $35..think it's gonna be warm enuf today to wrench outside on my 60 Willys wagon so may not get back to it today.....got the catch replaced on the left vent tho…..and still have to decide on the routing of the SXM antenna wire before I get back to the ws…..thanx Gents....
