changing handle bars to electra glide std bars

Hey there all,

I have a 2011 RG ultra,
Question has anyone ever changed out handle bars to STD Electra glide bars?
Wondering if there needs to be any cable changes??...I wouldn't think so because there so close in height, only def is pull back...which is what I'm looking for.

Also what is the cheapest tour pak detachable kit out there?...I saw harleys, but was wondering about after market?....

Thanks much, God Bless,
Andy

The Electra Glide or any other Batwing fairing handlebars will NOT fit a Road Glide. Handlebars from a Road Glide or Road King will be the only handlebars that will fit. Many RG owners put on the HD Heritage Style handlebars HD part #56902-08 these handlebars fit FLTR and FLHR bikes only.

The otherday I say some handle bars advertised as heritage bars with an extra 2" of pull back. ad said would fit RG with stock cables. if I can find it will post a link.

Here is a link with a lot of info http://wild1inc.com/handlebars101.html

from another forum:

1. Harley also offers a "Road King/Roadglide Reduced Reach" handlebar (56166-08) that has 2" more pullback than the stock RoadKing bar.

2. Default Solution Found

I went with the Wild One Chubby 517's and they are perfect...for me.
They allow me to keep my elbows and shoulders down and allow
enough room for me to comfortably slouch back into my Mustang backrest.

See attached photos of Stock bars, Heritage-style bars, and the WO 517's compared.

I was worried about replacing cables but did not have to replace any. Wild One's website has some install help listed. The big thing was to just re-route the clutch cable to the location pointed to in the photo attached.

Heck, here is the link to the thread: http://www.hdforums.com/forum/tourin...r-my-fltr.html

Garage
Thought you might find this photo interesting. Had a set of stock RG bars and EG bars in the garage. The RG bars have the blue sticker on them. I'm not fond of the wrist angle on the EG bars.

Stock EG bars will fit. I put them on my 03 and did not have to change cables. They don't look great because they stick out a little farther but they do clear the inner fairing fine.

You can buy Khrome Werks Stretched Heritage Bars from Drag Specialties for $80. They are +2 over the standard Heritage bars. The KW bars are a lot nicer than HD bars and do not require cable extensions. They have a 5 1/2 inches of pullback. Good luck.

Take a look at the krome Werks 2+2s or the +2 sweepers. I went with the 2+2s which are 2 higher I think but both bars kind of arc back to you. I have mine kind of up for some heighth but you can roll them back to you. I have short arms and they work great for me. Do a search there are a couple threads on here about them with pics. I have had the Heritage style which were better than stock but I still had to reach a little for them.
