hey! well, i just got my new road glide and loving every minute of it except my back starts to hurt after a while. i had a night train with 16" gangster apes, but i don't want to go that high on the road glide. i get the feeling that the 2010 road glide is a bit longer from the neck to the seat than the night train. so, i need something with a little more pullback and a couple more inches of rise from stock to get my hands level or just below my shoulders. as i sit now i'm hunched over and reaching down.
i'm 5'10" and would like some opinions on what bars to get. i like the looks of the yaffe bars, but i don't think they would reduce the reach.
i'm gonna run out of pain pills soon. lol.
IMO, would suggest you get settled on a specific seat before you start making changes to the bars / shield. There's a lot of us on here who have fought for the perfect combination of seat, bars and shield. The bars will be the most expensive to change (unless your doing all the labor yourself, then it'snot too bad).
If you use the search feature on this forum, you'll find very extensive threads on all these topics. Your specific height, weight, inseam, and arm length will be critical pieces.
For example, I'm 6', 215lbs, 31" inseam and 16 1/2"-17' sleeve. I'm perfectly comfortable with the stock seat (redone by MCC to move me forward 1") with the stock bars, and the standard height Clearview windshield. I also have a Harley Hammock seat that while it is huge, and not good looking is damn hard to beat for 600-700 miles days on the bike.
Good luck with your search for the perfect fit.
