Yaffe 10" Monkey Bar Install

Hi All. I am sure the answer to this question has already been detailed somewhere else on this forum...but if so I can't find it. Sorry.

Anyhow, I am going to put a set of 10" Yaffe Monkey bars on my 2012 Road Glide. No ABS.

If you have installed these bars on your bike did you have to extend the throttle control cable, clutch cable or brake lines?

What problems and/or challenges did you confront during the install? Any other advice/input you might offer would be much appreciated?

I do all my own service work and have installed all accessories myself on two Road Glides and a Street Glide over the last 11 years. From new sound systems, Road Tech GPSs, cruise control system, grips, shocks and many other things. So while I am not a certified mechanic I know my way around this type of bike pretty well.

With that said, any idea how much time I should budget for this project?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Look around you'll find 100 threads about these bars.

2015 RGS 103" Denim Black, Drago's 2:1, SE Heavy Breather, SEPST, Tuned. That will do for now.

I went with the 10" Monkey Bars for my 2011 RGC, but chose to have them installed by a non-HD shop that offered a descent price. The installer said the stock wires were long enough for 10's or 12's. If you live in a colder climate, and havn't ordered the bars yet, I would recommend paying the extra $50 to have them mill out the throttle side grip to accomodate for some Heat Demon grip warmers. Best investment you can make if you ride when its cold. And I would also recommend buying some $25 polyurethane bushings as well. I think mine are Arlen Ness, but I forget.

They are a bit stiffer for better feel/control. They are not a huge difference for shorter ape's, but most with taller ape's say the difference is huge. For $25, I just got them to have no regrets.

On my old shadow Bobber I went with solid steel bushings due to the 16in bars wiggling a lot. I'm just not sure if solid ones would work with the harley motor sending a lot more vibrations. I probably wouldn't hang on. However I do hear good things about the poly bushings and When I do my bars over the winter they are going in for sure.
