Jeezus this has been a royal pain.
So I finally get the bike to the dealer today to get my 1st service, install J&M speakers and install my Monkey Bars.
Service and speakers, no problem. Bars.. big problem.
They call and say they can't get the wires to run due to the sharp angles of the bars and burrs at the welds. They shredded the sheaths of all the cables/wires trying for a couple hours. They say the bars are defective due to the amount of sharp burrs inside at each bend.
So I call Yaffe to see what's up. They say that they hear this fairly often, and when they get the bars back nothing is wrong, but the installer doesn't know all the "tricks" to doing it right. So they offer to call my dealer and walk them through it.
Apparently one of the tricks is to shrink wrap the wires which bunches them up more tightly, making them smaller and easier to push through. Dealer calls me and says no-go and due to how much they seem to be tearing everything up, they won't even install them. They fear that over time through use, the wires will be rubbing around inside and getting sliced, causing a liability issue for them later on.
So now I have to remove everything, wires and all, send them with the bars to Yaffe who have offered to wire everything for us, then ship them back to be clamped on. So now my bike will be down for who knows how long while we wait for all this stuff to ship back and forth, and the labor time.
What a PITA
And it'll likely end up costing me a bit between shipping and Yaffe shop charges for the wiring. Luckily they also offered to reduce their rate just to help me out and get their bars on my bike. Yaffe has been awesome... my dealer, not so awesome.
