Chizled Lo Install Question

I'm looking to swap the stockers with the HD Chizled Lo bars. Dealership is telling me I also need to install a new twist grip sensor. Just want to see if this is necessary before I spend more cash. I've been quoted 5 hours of labor at 90.00 an hour...Wowsa. I never knew a bar swap would be so costly, so I'm double checking every add on I'm told I need. Oh, and they said I'd most likely need new grips, since the stocks may be damaged during the install. This bar swap get more expensive by the day...they better look and perform well for the money.

Did they say why you need a new TGS? Only thing I could think why is the Chiseled bars are shorter there.

Bars are not a difficult job to do. If you take your time watch a few videos. It's really not that big a deal.

Stock grips suck anyway. May as well replace them with something better while they're off.

Where in Ohio? I'm up in Lake County. Near GOTL. Be glad to help ya. That's free.

Pretty much agree with everything He said. Clear down to the what part of Ohio. I'm in Canton. I did the bars on my old bike before (internal wires on a CVO was a bitch) but can be done. Just takes patience. What year is your bike. I'm hearing the Rushmore models are a lot easier to do.

I made the mistake of depinning the tbw and ended up breaking the plastic housing. Weavesport suggested that I cut and soilder the wires. I should have listened to him. Way easier and tool no time at all

The wires on the tbw are 2 red 2 black and 2 white. Cut the reds at different lengths an inch difference is plenty. Do the same for black and white wires. Run the wires add n inch or two of shrink tubing soilder the plug back on heat the shrink tubing and rock and roll.
Oh the new tbw is about$125. Factory 47 has a great video I just wouldn't depin the tbw plug.
Also I might be selling my blk chizel lows. I absolutely love them but with my Corbin seat I'm having to stretch to reach them and it's hurting my neck.

What year bike? Big difference in internally wiring an 00-13, and a 2015+. You will need grips. You will not need a new TBW sensor. You will not need new cables for the chiseled low bars.

I can change the bars on a 2015+ in about an hour and a half assuming that the cables do not need to be changed, and that is taking my time.

Changing the bars on a 00-13 takes from 4-12 hours depending on whether or not you need to extend wires or change cables.

Thanks all for the advice. Really helpful as I learn the best way to do this swap and save a few bucks in the process.

Got a note from him. It's a 2016. Should be a lot easier than the pre Rushedmore bikes.

Yup. And the TBW plug fits through the bars. No need to depin it.
