debating on what size bars

what up world. I am sitting here debating on what size bars for my 2013 road glide ultra. my last bike I had 17in apes and they looked and felt good. my last bike was a 99 roadie that seemed to me to sat lower in the saddle. I am 6'1 and I am contemplating on going with a set of 14in bars or 16in bars. I think the 2013 sits higher in the saddle so confusing.

In my opinion, you should address the seat first. Are you happy with the seat you have? Is the height, width, and positioning in relation to your floorboards/highwaypegs/tank okay with you? I only say this because in the past I have put bars on a bike only to decide I wasn't happy with the seat on the bike. That subsequently left me with bars I wasn't happy with after I found the seat I liked. Sucks.

If your 17's left you feeling great, 16's are right up your alley. This is especially the case if you have a lower sitting seat than stock.

Most importantly, put some serious thought into what kind of pullback you want. I have found that I don't like a lot of pullback. I have very broad shoulders, so too much pullback puts my wrists at a very uncomfortable angle.

You may also want to look at the sticky with pics and comments on the many bars available for our sleds.

Hope this helps.

to answer your question about the seating position. my seat is a stock seat and I don't really mind it. when I brought my bike it had 7700miles on her so the seat wasn't really broke in. I was thinking about going with a set of 16in bars cause I may change out the seat and lower the floorboards later. I don't know the size of the factory bars on her. I think 14in bars are a common swap.

14's and 16's will require cables and the like, but i'm sure you know that already. Bear in mind though that the stock seat is in my opinion, a bit tall. So if you swap out to something else, it'll probably sit you down some. That may make you feel like your bars are taller/too tall. I personally have always felt that 14's on a low seat felt great, or 16's on a higher seat. I do lean towards 14's though.

Best,
Nick

If you're sitting higher in the saddle and you are gonna keep the seat, then you would probably want taller bars. But like has already been said, finds the seat you want first and then go from there. I've got a mustang seat and 19" bars on mine and in 6'2" with a 34 inseam. Of course I know they changed the frame on those from your 99 and my 00.

But keep us updated, hell I'm curious on what you end up with...
