Factory 47 bars - what's the difference between CVO RG and non-CVO RG?

Just signed the paperwork for my 18 CVO RG in lava orange/dark alloy yesterday. Having stage 3 installed so won't be picking it up for awhile, plus in upstate NY so staring out the window at snow and ice until Mar/Apr.

I was debating going with Yaffe or Factory 47 bars and decided to go with 14" Factory 47. On their website it says bars for the RG special won't fit the CVOs, what's different about their bars?

I have a 16 RGS and installed wild one 14" Reaperz on it so I know about the pin at the base of the handlebar clamp but I just pulled it out no problem. I don't have the bike or service manual yet to look myself so just trying to figure it out before I order the bars next week. I've heard something about pins for the hand controls - is that CVO specific and if so can they just be removed like the pin in the clamp area without affecting anything?

I believe the pin is on the opposite side of the clamp on the CVO. Hit up the CVO forum. I'm sure the answer is there.

In the past, bars for a CVO were a little different than on the regular bikes.

That is no longer the case.

Any bars that will fit a regular RG will fit a RG CVO.

The bars on my CVO are actually HD low chisled, that even the P&A book says they don't fit.

madmat and vring like this.

Beautiful bike! Craig, what size are those bars?

The bars are the HD lo chisled, which HD claims are 10". The factory bars just suck and since I am not a fan of tall apes or the "meat hook" design, I went with some simple bars that HD offers.

I like them a lot.

The pin is placed on the opposite side, like on the RG Ultra. Not sure if they changed, as bigcraig says. Their website currently reflects 2014-2018 RGs but not for CVO. If you’re ready to place an order for a CVO, they ask you call them first. At worst, you’ll have to replace your control clamps. It’s simple to do, and cheap. Awesome customer service, by the way.

Thanks for the input guys. Factory 47 14" are on the way. According to them there were some tweaks to the 18 CVO bars (sorry, I don't remember exactly what he told me) so anything that fits a 15+ RG will fit the 18 CVO and the regular RG clamp works as is, no need to switch to a SG style clamp.
