Well wouldn't you know that after changing my seat to one that pushes me two inches back, that I'd be reaching for the bars. So my legs now had the room they need and I wasn't sitting on the tank anymore, but I'd get a burning pain in the middle of my back/shoulder blades after about 30 mins.
I'm 6'3" with a long torso/arms, but on the stock seat the OEM bars on my '15 RGS were great for me. I have a bad shoulder and the idea of ape hangers never appealed to me despite hearing the constant rhetoric that "big guys need big bars". Bullshit - everybody is different and has a different idea of comfort. Even though 2" back in the saddle doesn't sound like a lot, it is a WORLD of difference. Enter the HD Tallboy bars. Same profile/shape as the stock bars on my '15, but with a 12" rise instead of 9" OEM.
With the help of a neighbor, we were able to install them yesterday in about 3 hours. About half of that was jacking around with de-pinning that stupid Molex connector
and re-pinning it. I think I went through about 6 paper clips and every curse word I know. Besides that, it was easy peasy!
Anyways, I think they look good and they feel SO much better! The weather sucks, so I won't be able to test them for awhile, but I will report back when I get the chance.
