Check Engine Light/No Cruise after Bar Installation
Well I was able to get out and test my new tallboy bars today. I checked everything out in the garage that I could after installing (turn signals, brake light, horn, stereo controls). I got on the highway and turned on cruise control, but it would not set. So it turned yellow, but it never turned green/maintained a speed.
I was able to turn it off and on, but couldn't set it. Then a little red light on the speedo came on (Electrical System Lamp/Security System) and was solid. No matter what I did after that point, the red dot stayed solid.
I got spooked, so I decided to make this a very short trip and head home on side roads. Then my check engine light came on when I turned off the freeway and was heading home. I never experienced any change in driving or any "trouble", but obviously I messed something up.
Any ideas or things to try? I'm not even sure where to start.

I popped off speedo today to roll my bars forward. I got the check engine light. I pulled up the codes and cleared them, there were 3. They did not come back.

Fixed it. And boy do I feel stupid
Yesterday when I was putting the hand controls back on, I apparently was in too much of a hurry and did not tighten up the position of the right side controls. So the brake lever housing slid juuuuuust enough to lose contact with the brake sensor switch. This essentially made it so that it looked like I had my brakes on the entire time. Which would explain why cruise control wouldn't work and my check engine light came on (throwing codes).
In the midst of my panic attack a bit ago, suddenly I remembered I had an FP3 and checked for any codes. Sure enough there was a pile of codes from the right side (throttle sensor, brake, etc). I loosened everything thing up, readjusted, tightened, and voila–no more codes!
I took it for a short test ride and cruise control worked, no weird lights and no codes on the FP3. Hot damn I love that FP3! Lesson of the day... even though you are excited about finishing a project, slow down, take a breath and tighten the damn screws.

Nothing like spending a couple hours work, painstakingly ensuring everything is just right, starting the bike and your $h!t don’t work, huh? Happens to the best of us, and you’re in good company. Changed my bars on a perfectly good running bike, and by the time I got it back together, the bike would start but throttle was not responsive. Spit out all kinds of codes. Took throttle grip off, off, started it, twisted TBW, still nothing. Turns out, didn’t have TBW plugged in securely enough. Glad you got it figured out.
