help me decide which bars, Mad Doggers or road glide assualt bar from buky

ok looking at the buky bars, mad doggers and black assault bars,, do not want to change out any wires or cables, thinking 12 inch in both bars, not sure if the assault bars would work in keeping the factory cables, anyone put those on? also would like to know if the 14 inch mad doggers would fit the bill, like both bars, believe the assault bars would have more pull back, any pictures would help

I know RhinoHD on here has the 14" Mad Doggers, but I think he had to change the cables out. The 12" might be the best if you dont want to change cables, but you might can squeeze the 14 Mad Doggers because the handles pull down a bit.

I just went through the same thing. I will be installing 12" Mad Doggers Friday evening using stock cables. I'll let you know how it goes. I tore everything down in prep last night.

Just ordered 12" Malo Bars

They told me 2 1/2 weeks for fab
Can't wait
I was going to go with assault bar at first until they told me it only comes in 1.25"
I prefer 1.5" and makes it a little easier to wire. I already ordered new cables and wire extension kit...just in case.

I'll post this here as a reference for folks that are having the same dilemna. The Buky Bars are sick, and the shop are cool folk to deal with. This is a comp of the stock bar vs. the Buky Mad Dogger 12". Due to the MD's unique slope towards the handgrip, it is not a typical 12" ape bar. For me, it is exactly what I was looking for, but the 14" is probably closer to a "standard" 12" ape, or go with the Malo. Fit and finish is excellent(no internal burs) and I will post more after some miles this weekend.

12" Mad Doggers

I have the 12" Doggers. The bars are awesome! The only thing I'm having an issue with is the reach. I feel as though I'm still leaning forward to reach the bars. I think the Malos would have been even worse as far as reach. I'm considering putting pull back risers on from Wild1 chubby. Hope this helps. I'm 6' tall with a pretty long reach.

Couldn't you roll them back a little to improve the reach?? I'm hoping to do the same with the Malos I ordered. The reach is the issue I'm having with stock bars. I had the same problem with my FLHRC until I installed WO 508s, those were way more comfortable but I don't like that style bar on FLTRX (JMHO).

Tried that. As you roll the bars back the grip area rolls under. Hard to explain. Seems like if the bars were set back a couple more inches at the risers it would be perfect for me. I think the distance from the seat area to the riser base is the issue for me along with type of bars you install. Maybe I should have gone with the 14" after all. Now I have to find a way to fix this with out sinking money into another set of bars.
