Bushings

There is lots of great info on bar styles and sizing for various individuals on this forum but what about replacing the stock bushings while we change the bars out?
Are the stock mounts good enough these days or should one change them out?
What brand and material do we go with and I assume they’re not too hard to do?
On my ‘15 SGS I put on Wild1 10” bars and didn’t think to change anything else, it was fine.

it is recommended to replace the riser bushings when you replace the bars. is it necessary to do so? not unless your bars feel loose. I replaced my bars years ago without changing the bushings and they are just starting to feel loose. I will do them this winter though. it is also recommended to replace them with polyurethane bushings as they will/should last longer and they will feel stiffer for a more firm feel. as far as companies to buy the from its hard to say as there are many different brands available.

In my personal experience and on any jobs I do I will recommend and install poly bushings with the slightly longer HD bolts. I have used the bushings from Drag Specialties without any issues, but like @rlaf75 stated there are a lot of companies to get them from.

Bushings

When I put on the 14” bars, I changed the bushings to poly. I would not have changed them for 10” or 12” bars. One thing I found is with the harder bushings I get a little more vibration to my hands. I like the tight feel of the bars.

Changed mine out to poly as well when I put on 12". Arlen Ness, they were only like $10 there abouts. Like bh103 mentioned, get the slightly longer bolts. Poly bushings don't compress as much like rubber ones. I don't really notice any more vibration when moving.

I’ll be down at my dealer this weekend and I’ll see if they sell them as well as longer bolts.
Next question, are they hard to install, ( no pullers needed etc)?

They pull out with right combination of cuss words. Easy peasy. No extra tools needed.

A little hint when putting in the bottom half of the right side. Put the bolt in the bushing first, then slide it in the bottom of the neck.
