OEM 12 Handle Bars Needing New Cables?

Hey guys, new to the forums. Im sure its been posted quite a few times but figuring things out still.

Looking at purchasing 12 bars for my 15 RG, has anyone had any problems running stock cables with 12 bars? Do you need longer cables and wiring? Read some threads that say you do and dont. Also suggestions on bars? Thanks & Ride safe!

Welcome to the forum from Mass!

12" bars should be no problem.

I put 14s on and only needed the plug and play wiring extensions. Some people haven’t even needed those for 14s

I put Road 6 Custom standard 13 inch on my bike, brake/clutch worked fine. There is enough wiring from the switch packs as well. The 15’s still have the larger plug for the throttle by wire, so that will have to be removed/re-installed. Harley did extend the throttle by wire so it does not have to be replaced. I did put 4” switch pack extensions on as I wanted to keep the switch pack wiring routing tray in place. If you do take a look at the video, you will see what I am taking about. Look up Road 6 Custom motorcycle bars on the web, they have a very good video on an install on a 15 RG.

Put 12s on mine. Just cut a few zip ties and toss out the "organiser card" thingy under the gauge cluster. You'll have enough wire no problem.

Good luck with the installation. Be patient. Know when to walk away to cool off, especially if you're pulling wires through sharp corners.
