2019 road glide handlebar upgrade

Good morning,

I am about half way through a handlebar upgrade on a new bike.
Installing a set of factory 47 bars.

I have watched their video several times and I see them taking apart a "square" 6 pin connection.
They do this in order to be able to more easily pull the wire through the bars.
Here -
About 3:40 in to the vid.

I have a question for someone that has done a new bike, did you need to do this?
When I compare the connections that I need to pull through I don't have this same square one to deal with, they are all smaller.

I have a feeling that HD may have improved in this area and made the factory wire connections smaller thus removing one step in the process of handlebar upgrades.

All opinions welcome, sorry I don't know how to post pictures.

Starting in 2017, the TBW connector was changed to a much smaller connector that eliminates the need to de-pin the connector to fit through the bars; definitely speeds up bar change outs!

Ok, thanks for the info. the factory 47 video is a little misleading then.

Sounds good.

Also for your info, I believe it was in 2015 on the Road Glides(not sure on other touring bikes), Harley extended the throttle by wire length. When I did my 18, I measured the stock throttle by wire at the point it exited the bottom of the bars and there was 18” of wiring from that point. Plenty of length for many bar changes.

Are there two seperate connections that are not in use on the 2019's?
I have reconnected everything that I see and I am left with 2 that do not match.

Just wanted to check before I finish up.

Thanks for any info.

I believe they are both the smaller square ones maybe a 2 pin connection?
One is on the bike, one is from the bar wiring.
Sorry, don't have pics. right now.
Pretty sure the one coming from the right side is for heated grips.

Should be for heated grips. The right side heated grip would get plugged directly into the tbw assembly end so there will be an unused connector on the tbw harness.
